                                                                  Anogramma leptophylla

This week I went looking for the rare Jersey fern. In the past there was a large population stretching along this hedge bank. Sadly the population was extremely vulnerable to traffic and most of it was recently destroyed by a lorry. With this in mind I went to the location expecting not to find any examples of this unusual fern.
I did find some specimens however and was pleased to see that although the population was small it had not been wiped out completely.

Opposite a lone Hawthorn on a hedge bank on this road, it always seems to grow alongside Lunularia cruciate.
